If something happens
The usual questions
The power went out
First look outside: if the neighbours are dark too, it is a general outage and usually comes back on its own.
If it is only the house, the breaker box is by the entrance, behind the living room door. Find the switch that flipped and push it back up. If it trips again straight away, unplug whatever you had just switched on and call us.
The gas ran out
There is no spare gas cylinder in the house. Message us on WhatsApp and we will order a delivery — it usually arrives the same day.
In the meantime the microwave and the barbecue work normally.
The Wi-Fi dropped
Unplug the router, count to 30, plug it back in and wait about 2 minutes. If it is still down, let us know.
The sink is clogged
The rubber plunger is in the laundry area. Block the overflow hole, run an inch of water into the sink and pump hard about ten times.
If that does not work, call us — please do not use chemical drain cleaner, the plumbing is old.
There is no water
The house has its own water tank, so this is usually a street-level outage that comes back within hours.
The bedroom is too hot
The house is naturally ventilated, with no air conditioning. What works here is cross-ventilation: open windows on two sides of the room and point the fan outwards, pushing the hot air out — the breeze comes in on its own.
In the morning, close the curtains on the sunny side.
The gate will not open
It is almost always the remote battery. The house does not keep spares: message us on WhatsApp and we will bring one.
If you are in a hurry, the gate motor has a manual release that lets you push it open by hand — call us and we will talk you through it.
A remote control ran out of battery
TV, fan or gate remote: the house does not keep spare batteries on purpose, because stored batteries go flat before anyone needs them.
Message us on WhatsApp saying which remote it is and we will bring the right one. No need to go out and buy any.
The toilet is blocked
The plunger is in the laundry area. Seat it firmly at the bottom of the bowl, keep it sealed between strokes and pump hard about ten times — what clears it is the suction on the pull, not the push.
If the water is close to overflowing, close the valve behind the toilet first and do not flush to test.
Still blocked after two goes? Message us on WhatsApp. No chemical drain cleaner, please — the plumbing is old and the product attacks the seals instead of clearing the blockage.
